CodoniXnotes used in Four New Mexico School Clinics
Las Cruces, New Mexico April 1, 2008 In 2007, NEW Urgent Care of Las Cruces New Mexico began using CodoniXnotes in their Urgent Care facility. Lynette Summers, PhD, co owner of NEW was pleased with the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the CodoniX system. With no costs for hardware or software beyond PCs and a broad band Internet connection, NEW Urgent Care was able to have the application up and running and the staff trained in days rather than the months required for the installation and implementation of most EMR systems. The increased reimbursements that resulted from better documentation and increased coding accuracy more than paid for the low monthly subscription cost.
After using the web based CodoniXnotes system for several months, Dr. Summers determined that it would also be the perfect application for use in the four School Based Health Clinics (SBHC) that she staffs. These clinics provide middle and secondary school students quality health care from clinics at their schools regardless of their ability to pay. Dr. Summers contacted CodoniX to see if they could add the protocols and exams required by the state and CodoniX quickly developed a template that included these requirements. The application allows the clinician to easily set up appointment times using the included scheduler and produces a fully coded narrative chart and a billing sheet ready for submission to New Mexico’s state managed care Medicaid program or private insurance if available. CodoniXnotes is now deployed in these clinics and is being reviewed by the other 34 SBHCs in the state.
