CodoniX, Inc.'s ED Charting and Coding System Bags 2005 Healthcare Information Technology Product of the Year Award

Palo Alto, Calif. - November 9, 2005 - Frost & Sullivan selected CodoniX, Inc. as the recipient of the 2005 Healthcare Information Technology Product of the Year Award for providing an outstanding electronic charting and coding software for emergency departments as well as for private office practices.

"A leader in the emergency department software environment, the CodoniX ED Charting and Coding System is a complete software system designed to manage emergency department's documentation and compliance while capturing every charting procedure from admission and triage to discharge and records," says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Steve Tobin. "The CodoniX application allows users to document and triage patients, while on the back-end it processes coding and reimbursement information, which expedites the process and profitability of the department."

The CodoniX ED system implements six components that enhance workflow and document comprehensive patient information. The solution is scalable and currently deployed mostly in emergency departments with annual patient volumes 60,000 to 80,000.

CodoniX's product allows physicians and nurses to simultaneously manage patient documentation while handling workflow and patient care. This solution offers healthcare professionals a physician's programming interface, with object oriented programming that is a direct transfer of sight documentation.

Healthcare delivery organizations are seeking to implement cost-effective solutions that improve the quality of care, reduce medical errors, and increase profitability. The CodoniX ED Charting and Coding System provides just that with the ability to transition the emergency department from paper to electronic charting within 7 to 10 days. Once fully operational, the system can also capture discrete data that expedites the reimbursement process, and therefore total profitability of the physician and emergency department. The solution drives up to 30 percent collection improvement, and therefore hospitals have experienced 100 percent usage of the system by physicians.

"Healthcare delivery organizations are able to interface the product with the electronic health records and utilize the software through a Web-based system," explains Tobin. "Furthermore, as pre-hospital care information continues to become more integrated into emergency department systems, CodoniX ED Charting and Coding System is designed with an interface capability that can receive data from an ambulance system before patient arrival to the hospital."

Whether improving workflow and reimbursement rates or providing total cost savings and enhanced productivity and analysis, the CodoniX Chart System revolutionizes the way emergency departments manage patient care reporting. These benefits combined with the positive end-user feedback earned CodoniX, Inc. the Frost & Sullivan's 2005 Healthcare Information Technology Product of the Year Award.
